Business Grant and Loans

One of the areas which the Gambia Partnership are keen to develop, relates to the provision of business grants and loans to individuals.

There are many small enterprises in Gambia, who struggle to grow their business, due to various difficulties. On the other hand, others have great business ideas, but are unable to get them off the ground, due to a lack of funding.

We met a number of such individuals when we were in Gambia in November. The idea would be to provide a hand up to enable individuals to either grow their business or establish a new business.

Those we spoke to in November were interested, not only developing a means of supporting themselves and their families, but of generating funds in order to allow them to support their local churches through tithing.

One such recipient was Anita Yarjah who has a business selling food in a local school. Her fridge broke down, which impacted her ability to store the necessary foods to effectively run her business.

The video, below, was a short appeal from Anita. The following photos are Anita selling her food at the school along with the fridge that was purchased in response to her appeal.
