Memmeh Outreach Update

The following is an update by Pastor Edrissa Colley, following a recent Mission trip to Memmeh in the North Bank, along with Pastor Sylvester Konteh and Daniel Moore.

Wednesday
We took off from Brikama around 1pm through the trans-Gambia highway and arrived around 4pm. We took our rooms in the new building Samuel Mendy built and had our lunch. Since it was late, we spent that evening with Samuel’s family.

Thursday
We started this day by going to Barra. On our way back home we visited two Liberian missionaries sent by Africans sending Africans at Essau. We encouraged and prayed for them and even had lunch with them. We asked questions about the nature of ministry in North Bank and the challenges they are facing. They need Bibles, and property for ministry. Catholicism is a challenge.

After lunch we went out for visiting and evangelism. We visited a Muslim background Fula christian who lives in Memmeh with his wife, and we spoke at length on his conversion story and the challenges they are facing. He fellowships with other Fula converts in the region. Challenges are that converts are persecuted by family and community (he gave an example of his own persecution when he came to faith). He stated the need to have a house built to shelter converts that come to faith. We shared Muslim evangelism tracts with him and he was very happy and we prayed for him.

From there we moved to the community and spoke to two young Muslims at the football field who came to play football and keenly listened to us. Others were listening as we shared the Gospel and tracts. We pray that the seed sown may germinate and bear fruit. That was the last activity of the day.

Friday
On Friday we entered 4 Muslims compounds or houses. We also visited houses that are Roman Catholic. In the first Muslim house we met a marabout herdsman and spoke with him and his children and shared tracts. The father, the marabout, was busy attending to his clients, but we had good discussion with his kids and we prayed for them. May God bring fruit to this witness.

We then moved to the second house, the man was not receptive of the gospel, but welcomed us because they respect Samuel as a good man. We then moved to a third compound were we met a nice young gentleman who listened keenly we prayed and shared tracts.

We moved to another house and met a woman teacher and ministered the word to her and prayed for her, sharing tracts.

On our way back home we visited a sick church member and prayed for her, visited a couple of houses that are Roman Catholic and in one we shared the gospel.

Saturday
On Saturday we headed home through Barra-Banjul ferry.

The trip was great and we are thankful that we are able to share the gospel to many and also visit and encourage others.
