School Extension Project
The partnership has been in contact with Child concern International school since 2004. We were introduced to the school by Medlove Brima and have continued to communicate with and support it since then.
To visit Child concern International is likely to set it apart in your mind from other schools simply by the poverty of the area it finds itself in. More positively it is notable for the excitable children who eagerly attend school and take part in the Bible class held by the school on Saturdays for both children who attend the school and those who are unable to attend.
Very early on in the relationship with Child Concern, a proposal was put to the partnership for an extension of the existing school, in order to allow more children to attend. The original school building was particularly small and inadequate and was joined by a temporary extension of sorts mainly erected through the use of corrugated iron sheeting.
Partnership funds were used to extend the school through two visits in February and November 2009. In February, 2 new classrooms were built and foundations laid for another 4 classrooms and an office, which was completed upon the November trip.
Whilst the school by no means boasts a top-class facility, it is nonetheless better equipped to provide children with an education and impact the surrounding area with the Gospel.
